Hurricane Irma, you nasty bitch!
My friend and work buddy Mike and I volunteered to help with hurricane cleanup in the Jacksonville Fla area. This is the third week of a proposed 6 week detail, and I will be flying home for a visit this Friday. It’s been a decent trip so far although I’m very homesick. In my absence, the kids got a puppy we named Ivy. I can’t wait to meet her, she looks adorable. As for highlights so far, the weather was terribly hot but we can wear shorts down here. The holiday inn express we are at has a strip mall down the street and we have been fortunate enough to have places to eat that aren’t fast food 24/7.
The people are great, the wildlife wants to kill you and the churning up of the swamp from the tidal surge leaves the rural areas stinking. More to come after the trip home.
